Tom Ford may have stepped away from the fashion world to focus on his film career, but his influence is still very much felt in the industry. His iconic Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent collections continue to inspire designers like Demna and Haider Ackermann, who is currently at the helm of the Tom Ford brand.

At the latest Tom Ford show, Ackermann showcased a collection that was a departure from the deep midnight blue of the previous season. The designer opted for sharp white and black pieces, including double-breasted men’s suits and animal spot intarsias. One of the most intriguing elements of the collection was the slouchy trousers held up by a thin belt that had slipped its loops, adding a touch of nonchalant coolness.

Ackermann also introduced see-through plastic into the mix, turning a material typically associated with innocence into something more provocative. Models strutted down the runway in plastic blazers, trenches, and babushkas, revealing lacy undergarments and TF logo stockings underneath A-line skirts.

The collection took a more diverse turn with the introduction of pre-faded and deeply creased denim in various cuts for both men and women. The ultra high-waisted denim for men was paired with pastel American Psycho button-downs and rep ties, adding a retro touch to the modern collection.

Despite the range of styles, Ackermann’s tailoring remained a standout feature of the show. Whether in pinstripes or micro houndstooth, the suits were accessorized with unbuttoned shirts and lush flower corsages, adding a touch of romance to the edgy collection.

The models embodied Ackermann’s vision with their fierce and theatrical runway presence, adding an element of drama to the show. The evening looks were more subdued, with just two event dresses in black featuring tendril-like straps. However, the men’s silk scarves and daringly low-slung trousers hinted at a more bold statement to come, possibly at the upcoming Oscars.

Overall, Ackermann’s latest collection for Tom Ford was a mix of sensuality, edge, and sophistication, showcasing the designer’s versatility and creativity. Fashion enthusiasts will be eagerly anticipating which red carpet looks from the collection will make a splash at future events.
