Trump’s post on Truth Social read: “The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my Inauguration. They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves.”
It is evident that Trump was more concerned about his own image and inauguration than the reason behind the flags being lowered. He tried to rally support for raising the flags for his inauguration, but the tradition of honoring former President Jimmy Carter stood.
