President Donald Trump expressed his desire for college sports to return to the pre-NCAA’s name, image, and likeness changes during a recent roundtable discussion.

At the roundtable, Trump voiced his preference for reverting to the old system and even mentioned plans to issue an executive order within a week to reinstate the policies in place before the Supreme Court’s ruling on NIL in 2021.

Trump acknowledged the likelihood of legal challenges but expressed his determination to find judges who would rule differently.

He also emphasized the need for federal legislation to provide guidelines in the NIL space and called for continued negotiations among lawmakers.

During the discussion, House Speaker Mike Johnson mentioned the SCORE Act, which aims to protect NCAA athletes from being considered employees and provide antitrust protection to the organization and its conferences.
