ODNI Tulsi Gabbard Critiques James Comey’s Blame Game

In a recent media whirlwind, former FBI Director James Comey found himself under fire from Tulsi Gabbard following his peculiar attempt to deflect responsibility for a controversial Instagram post that many interpreted as a call for violence against former President Trump.

Just this week, Comey made his first public appearance on MSNBC after posting an enigmatic message that sparked outrage. The post, which included the cryptic phrase “86 47,” was interpreted by some as an incitement to violence, prompting an investigation by the U.S. Secret Service.

In a rather curious Instagram caption, Comey commented on a “cool shell formation” he encountered during a beach stroll, seemingly oblivious to the implications of his post. The Secret Service followed up with an interview at their Washington Field Office just a day later.

During his appearance, Comey attempted to explain away the situation as an innocent beach encounter. “We were preparing for the week and I noticed some shells arranged in a peculiar way. My wife, Patrice, questioned the presence of numbers in the sand. I suggested it might be a political message,” Comey elaborated, conveniently shifting the narrative towards his wife’s interpretation.

In an unexpected twist, Comey then proceeded to lay blame at his wife’s feet. “Patrice mentioned that in her restaurant days, ’86’ referred to removing an item from the menu when it ran out. I thought it meant to leave a place,” he continued, downplaying the significance of the number’s more sinister connotations. “I thought nothing of it until I learned that people were suggesting it was a call for assassination, which is absurd!”

Gabbard, unimpressed by Comey’s narrative, took to Fox News to express her disbelief. “For any man to pin the blame on this on his wife? Give me a break! Why don’t you just own it yourself?” she declared. Gabbard pointed out the absurdity of Comey claiming ignorance about the meaning of “86,” arguing that anyone familiar with the term would understand its implications in this context.

“When someone of his stature, who has been celebrated as a figure of fairness and integrity, posts something that can be interpreted as a call to eliminate our president, it has serious ramifications,” Gabbard added, highlighting the potential consequences of such a statement.
