Davis faces charges of murder involving a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement, accused of orchestrating the drive-by shooting, although he is not identified as the shooter.
During the attack, 14 bullets were fired into the passenger side of the BMW carrying Shakur, with Marion ‘Suge’ Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, at the wheel. Shakur, then 25, was hit by four bullets, while Knight, 61, was unharmed in the gunfire.
Despite his critical condition, Shakur was able to stay conscious en route to the hospital and communicated with Dale.
On the stand on Monday, August 17, a former officer recounted asking Shakur if he recognized his attackers. The response was, “No, no, we’ll take care of it,” or something along those lines.
Shakur died in a Las Vegas hospital six days after the shooting, on September 13, 1996, due to his injuries. It remains unknown if he ever discovered who was behind the attack.
