Tyler Perry’s Lawyer Rips Sexual Assault Lawsuit as ‘Money Grab Scam’

Tyler Perry's Lawyer Rips Sexual Assault Lawsuit as 'Money Grab Scam'

Tyler Perry’s lawyer has vehemently denied allegations that the iconic actor and director sexually assaulted another actor, Mario Rodriguez. The accusations include claims of unwanted sexual advances and groping without consent, all of which Perry’s attorney, Alex Spiro, has labeled as a “money grab scam” seeking $77 million in damages.

Insiders have revealed text messages exchanged between Perry and Rodriguez, where the actor expressed gratitude and admiration for the filmmaker. In one message sent around Thanksgiving in 2024, Rodriguez thanked Perry for the opportunity to appear in his movie and professed his love and appreciation for him.

Despite these seemingly positive exchanges, Rodriguez allegedly reached out to Perry as recently as August 31, detailing his financial struggles and health issues. The messages painted a picture of desperation, with Rodriguez mentioning his fear of not being able to afford medical treatment and expressing concern about his health.

The lawsuit filed by Rodriguez claims that Perry invited him to his home multiple times to discuss potential work opportunities. During one of these meetings in 2015, Rodriguez alleges that Perry, who was intoxicated, made unwanted sexual advances towards him. The actor claims Perry touched his chest and shoulders inappropriately and made lewd comments.

Furthermore, Rodriguez alleges that in November 2018, Perry forcibly grabbed his genitals despite his protests. Rodriguez claims he had to physically struggle to escape Perry’s advances and that the director insisted he “let it happen” and promised to take care of him if he complied.

After the incident, Perry reportedly apologized to Rodriguez and paid him $5,000 before dismissing him. The lawsuit paints a disturbing picture of a powerful figure using his influence to prey on a vulnerable actor, exploiting him for his own gratification.

Perry’s attorney, Alex Spiro, has strongly refuted these claims, citing previous failed attempts by Rodriguez’s attorney to extract money from the filmmaker. Spiro maintains that the allegations are baseless and part of a coordinated effort to extort money from Perry.

As the legal battle between Perry and Rodriguez escalates, the truth behind these disturbing accusations remains to be seen. The case underscores the importance of addressing allegations of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
