A disturbing case has emerged featuring a former contestant from “American Idol”.
Benjamin Glaze, who gained attention for sharing a kiss with Katy Perry on the show, has received a severe prison sentence for accumulating child pornography. His release, should he attain it, comes with a stringent set of conditions that must be met, including assessments of his sexual arousal.
At just 19 years of age, Glaze found himself in the spotlight during a memorable moment in 2018, but he is now facing 25 years behind bars after acknowledging his addiction to child pornography; he will serve at least 15 of those years, with the remaining ten years suspended.
To qualify for release after the 15 years, Glaze is required to comply with a lengthy list of conditions, which includes undergoing a penile plethysmograph test. This procedure involves monitoring blood flow while he views various types of visual content, according to court records acquired by TMZ.
The now-27-year-old must also partake in the Abel Screening, a psychosexual assessment that evaluates the length of time he gazes at images of children versus those of adults, as reported by the outlet.
In addition, Glaze faces a prohibition from strip clubs, sex shops, massage parlors, and adult theaters. He is also forbidden from viewing pornography, contacting sex hotlines, or offering rides to hitchhikers.
His sentencing stipulates that Glaze must wear suitable clothing and undergarments at all times. He will also have to provide regular blood samples for sexually transmitted disease screening and register as a sex offender.
Last year, Glaze was detained in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a mental health counselor reported his admission to a child pornography dependency, as noted by Fox 23.
Authorities confiscated Glaze’s phone, uncovering over 700 instances of child sexual abuse materials, according to police. He was recently convicted for aggravated possession of these materials.
During his appearance on “American Idol” in 2018, Glaze performed Nick Jonas’s hit “Levels” in front of judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry.
Although the judges decided against sending him to Hollywood, Glaze confided that he had never experienced a relationship or kissed anyone prior to the show, prompting Perry to plant a kiss on him, which was met with significant online attention and criticism, alleging it was an assault on the young man.
After his audition, Glaze expressed in a New York Times interview that had it been his choice, he would have preferred to decline, hoping to reserve his first kiss for a more meaningful context.
