A woman with long, dark hair and a brown blouse engages in conversation, expressing her thoughts with animated gestures against a softly blurred background.

In a rather spirited exchange this morning on MSNBC, former presidential candidate Kamala Harris weighed in on the federal indictment of Letitia James, decrying it as “a blatant assault on the rule of law in our nation.“

Harris made her remarks during an appearance on “The Weekend,” hosted by the ever-liberal Eugene Daniels.

Recently, a federal grand jury brought forth an indictment charging New York State Attorney General Letitia James with Bank Fraud under 18 U.S.C. Section 1344, as well as False Statements to a Financial Institution under 18 U.S.C. Section 1014.

Harris pointed out the case of US Attorney Erik Seibert, who was dismissed by President Trump due to his supposed ties with the controversial former FBI Director, James Comey, and what Trump described as “UNUSUALLY STRONG support” from Democratic Senators.

“I withdrew the Nomination of Erik Siebert as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia when I discovered he had the UNUSUALLY STRONG endorsement of the two absolutely dreadful Democrat Senators from Virginia,” Trump stated via Truth Social last month. “He didn’t resign; I terminated him! Next time, let him start as a Democrat, not a Republican.”

“A prior prosecutor, who I’m told was a conservative Republican, evaluated the evidence and found insufficient cause to charge her with a crime, yet here we are with her now being indicted,” Harris argued, painting the prosecution as politically motivated at all levels.

Harris: This is a blatant assault on the rule of law in our country. And you know, one of the discussions we had during those 107 days—and even before—was that the Supreme Court decided during the election cycle that the President would enjoy immunity from his actions while in office. So, we went into the election with Donald Trump, understanding that he would essentially be shielded from any consequences for misconduct. The Supreme Court essentially granted him that immunity. Now, look at the militarization of our streets, with trained individuals deployed not to protect but to confront the American public, as we see happening in places like Chicago.

Take a step back and look at the Department of Justice, which seems weaponized—going after Comey and after the Attorney General of New York, who, according to a previous conservative prosecutor, did not find enough evidence to charge her with any wrongdoing, and yet here she is, facing indictment. This represents a significant attack on the rule of law by a President who operates as if the Department of Justice is his private legal team, undermining constitutional protections.

It’s almost comic that the individual who served as Vice President during a time when her party was accused of using judicial measures against Donald Trump has the audacity to now claim that Trump is weaponizing the Justice Department against genuine offenders.

In a twisted turn of fate, Letitia James, who is alleged to have committed mortgage fraud, attempted to dismantle Trump through a lawsuit alleging he misrepresented property values to secure favorable loans.

As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, James, who campaigned on targeting Trump, reacted to the indictment last week by labeling her own charges as the “weaponization of our justice system.”
