Barcelona fans were left feeling uneasy as forward Ferran Torres was named in the starting XI to face Girona in LaLiga. The Spanish giants were looking to reclaim the top spot in the Spanish top-flight after falling behind rivals Real Madrid. Despite the optimism, fans were concerned about the inclusion of Torres in the line-up.

Hansi Flick’s team had seen their bitter rivals move two points clear at the summit of LaLiga after a victory over Real Sociedad. The German tactician made two changes to the XI that suffered a 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey. Raphinha and Gerard Martin were brought in to replace Marc Casado and Alejandro Balde, while veteran striker Robert Lewandowski started on the bench.

The decision to start Torres did not sit well with Barcelona supporters, prompting reactions on social media. Fans expressed their disappointment and disbelief at Flick’s choice to include the Spanish forward in the line-up. Some fans even felt that playing Torres from the start put the team at a disadvantage.

Despite the backlash, Ferran Torres had been in decent form, scoring three goals in his last ten appearances for Barcelona across all competitions. The former Manchester City player had been a regular in the team, making 32 appearances this season and contributing 16 goals along with an assist.

In a positive development, Raphinha returned to the starting XI for Barcelona against Girona after battling injuries throughout the season. The Brazilian forward had been limited to 22 appearances across all competitions due to fitness issues. His return was a boost for Flick as he aimed to guide his side back to the top of LaLiga.

Raphinha had last featured in Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Elche before being sidelined with an injury. His absence in games against Albacete, Mallorca, and Atletico Madrid had been felt, but his return provided a much-needed attacking threat. The former Leeds United player had scored eight goals and provided three assists in 14 league appearances for Barcelona this season.

Overall, Barcelona fans had mixed feelings about the team selection for the Girona clash, but they hoped that the players could deliver a positive result on the pitch. The inclusion of Torres and the return of Raphinha added intrigue to the match, with fans eagerly anticipating the outcome.
