A woman captured in distressing footage pleading for help while being abducted from a residence in Kansas has been located unharmed, according to police reports.
<pAuthorities received a call around 3 p.m. Tuesday from a woman identifying herself as the person featured in a doorbell video, who was seen being carried away by a man in front of a home in Wichita, as stated by the Wichita Police Department.
Investigators promptly reached her location and escorted her to City Hall for interviews as a victim, police reported.
The 35-year-old woman has been identified as a resident of the area where the shocking video was recorded around 2 a.m. on Sunday, officials disclosed.
This incident is considered related to domestic violence, with the woman allegedly being assaulted by her boyfriend, as per police information.
Fortunately, authorities confirmed she sustained no major injuries.
The alarming situation came to light when the homeowner noticed the potential abduction via their doorbell camera.
In the footage, the woman can be heard calling out a manâs name multiple times as he forcibly lifts her and walks away.
Police released the video on Monday, hoping to garner public assistance in identifying both individuals involved.
âOur top priority is the safety and welfare of the woman featured in that video,â stated police Chief Joe Sullivan in a renewed appeal for information on Tuesday.
The authorities had previously offered a $2,000 reward for any tips leading to the woman’s recovery and sought assistance from regional and federal law enforcement.
<pâWe are grateful to the community for disseminating the video and images, which increased visibility and awareness of this incident. We believe this ultimately prompted the woman to reach out, confirming she was the person we were seeking,â wrote the Wichita Police Department.
An inquiry regarding the video and the circumstances surrounding the case will be forwarded for evaluation by the relevant attorneyâs office for potential charges, according to police.
