Briana Bush, a 21-year-old woman with a history of violent crimes, is facing new charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery after allegedly stabbing a man on a Red Line platform. This incident occurred while Bush was already on probation for a previous robbery case on a CTA train.

The altercation took place late on January 5 at the 69th Street station, where Bush was involved in a fight with a 24-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. During the argument, Bush reportedly pulled out a weapon and stabbed the man before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.

Judge Luciano Panici, Jr. ordered Bush to be detained at the state’s request due to the severity of the charges against her. It was revealed that at the time of the stabbing, Bush was already on probation for participating in a group robbery on a Red Line train back in July 2024. In that case, surveillance footage showed Bush attacking a sleeping man and stealing his phone before being apprehended by police.

Additionally, Bush faced charges of escaping electronic monitoring while awaiting trial for the robbery case. However, prosecutors dropped this charge when she pleaded guilty to the robbery in September. Judge Peggy Chiampas sentenced Bush to two years of probation for the robbery.

This recent incident highlights the ongoing challenges of addressing repeat offenders and the need for effective rehabilitation and monitoring programs. The case also underscores the importance of public safety reporting to provide accurate information and context to the community.
