A tragic incident unfolded in Queens early Monday morning, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Jennifer Navarrete and the injury of her 49-year-old uncle inside their College Point home. Navarrete was found with a gunshot wound to her head, while her uncle had gunshot wounds to his arm and back. Despite efforts by EMS workers, Navarrete was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wounded uncle managed to make his way to Flushing Hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. The investigation revealed a Volkswagen parked outside the building, believed to belong to one of the victims, with a blood trail leading inside. Additionally, four shell casings were discovered at the scene.

Authorities suspect that the shooter is acquainted with both victims. A witness on the first floor reported seeing a man, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, fleeing the scene after the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators are scouring for surveillance footage that could provide valuable leads in the case.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the prevalence of gun violence in our communities. The loss of Jennifer Navarrete has left her loved ones and the neighborhood in shock and mourning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as authorities work tirelessly to bring justice for Jennifer Navarrete and her family.
