Chicago police are currently investigating a tragic hit-and-run crash that resulted in the deaths of two men in the Morgan Park neighborhood. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on the 11700 block of South Marshfield Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene in response to an EMS call around 1:15 a.m., they found two adult men lying unresponsive in the roadway. One victim has been identified as a 30-year-old man, while the second victim’s identity remains unknown as of Monday morning.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, with initial reports indicating no visible signs of trauma on their bodies. However, the deaths are being treated as a hit-and-run case by the Chicago Police Department (CPD). According to a community alert issued by CPD on Monday, the two men were struck by a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee that fled the scene.

The vehicle, which bears Illinois license plate FR19482, was later recovered in the 10100 block of South Michigan Avenue. Despite the recovery of the Jeep, the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run has not yet been identified. Area Two Detectives and the Major Accident Investigation Unit are actively working on the case and urging anyone with information, dash camera footage, or nearby video surveillance to come forward and assist in the investigation. Those with relevant information can contact investigators at 312-745-4521 or submit anonymous tips through CPDTIP.com, referencing case number JJ530479.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the devastating consequences of reckless driving.
