Marco Capaldo stands out in London’s fashion scene for his keen sense of glamour, a trait likely influenced by his Italian heritage and English upbringing. Yet, his approach to design is marked by practicality. Drawing inspiration from diverse sources like David Lynch’s Lost Highway and emerging London artists, Capaldo’s creations reflect a profound understanding of his clients’ sartorial desires. “I obviously pull from this bank of inspiration that I look at—there’s always this red thread of the things I’m attracted to and the things that resonate with me,” Capaldo shared at a preview. “But I really wanted it to be more than ever about the clothes. What’s been really exciting recently is to just finesse everything.”

His latest collection showcases this through sumptuous materials: superfine pony hide for outerwear, sculptural coats with wool fringe details, and a newly crafted leopard and deer print on silk chiffon and velvet devoré. Capaldo’s signature evening dresses feature dramatic silhouettes in deep black or vivid scarlet, with some adorned in bugle beads and sequins for a shimmering effect. The collection also emphasizes versatility, with garments featuring detachable elements like wraps and scarves with buttons or hooks, and satin tops that can be styled in various ways. “We’ve really thought about how one garment can carry you through multiple scenarios,” he explained.

The collection maintains a sophisticated vibe while incorporating Capaldo’s playful touches, such as asymmetrical micro-mini skirts and sheer tops revealing glimpses of skin. His designs are favored by pop stars, with Olivia Dean and Lily Allen recently donning 16Arlington pieces for performances, and Dua Lipa stepping out in a lacy top paired with jeans.

“Season after season, I think we move across this spectrum between sex and intellect. Some seasons, we lean more towards the sex, and some seasons we lean more towards the intellect. I think it’s constantly playing with that duality—of the British and the Italian, the masculine and the feminine, the minimalism with these punches of maximalism.” Capaldo expertly navigates these contrasts, achieving a harmonious balance in his latest collection.
