A senior citizen accidentally crashed his car into a house in Halfway Bush, Dunedin, after his foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator, according to police. Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen reported that the 85-year-old man was trying to move his vehicle due to roadworks in the area when the incident occurred at 8:24 pm on Tuesday.

The impact caused the car to plow through a hedge and collide with the side of a house. The driver was taken to Dunedin Hospital for precautionary checks as he may have sustained a head injury during the crash.

Emergency services, including Hato Hone St John and Fire and Emergency New Zealand, responded to the scene. The St John spokesperson mentioned that one patient was transported to the hospital in a moderate condition.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews from Roslyn, Willowbank, and Lookout Point stations assisted in safely removing the man from the vehicle.
