Jenny McCarthy, a prominent anti-vaccine advocate, has ignited controversy on social media after she released a video suggesting a dubious connection between Tylenol’s main component, acetaminophen, and autism.

In an Instagram post, McCarthy discussed how acetaminophen impacts the body’s detoxification processes. In her post, she included a disclaimer: “Many calls and questions. Hope this helps a bit. Please consult with your doctor for further information.”

She alleged that acetaminophen diminishes glutathione, an important antioxidant, thereby impairing the body’s ability to eliminate harmful substances, including “aluminum present in vaccines.”

Claiming not to have used Tylenol during her pregnancy, McCarthy also mentioned her own low levels of glutathione and her weekly IV treatments aimed at improving her levels. Though her previous anti-vaccine statements have left a mark, her advocacy of the Tylenol theory has been widely dismissed by a plethora of healthcare professionals since HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s comments on acetaminophen.
