Love Is Blind returns full of love, heartbreak, and drama, and season 9 promises to be the most chaotic one yet.
The much-anticipated season 9 of the Netflix dating series debuted with its first six episodes on Wednesday, October 1, showcasing a new group of eager singles in Denver, Colorado. After cohosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey provided their warm welcomes, the dating process in the pods commenced, leading to immediate chaos.
From engagements that felt like love at first sight to intricate love triangles and several instances of ghosting, the season kicked off with intense drama from the very beginning. Things escalated even more in Mexico, where couples who appeared solid in the pods faced serious tests.
Every drama peaked at a disastrous coupleâs party that left nearly everyone affected.
âI have some idea of how it plays out, but Iâm not revealing anything just yet. Itâs intriguing,â Nick, 51, shared with Us Weekly back in August regarding season 9. âThis project is very dear to Vanessa and me, but we genuinely donât grasp the seasonâs nuances until we view it ourselves. ⊠So, weâre just as eager and curious as everyone else to see how it unfolds. We know the start, we know the end, but weâre in the dark about what happens in between.â
New episodes of Love Is Blind are released every Wednesday on Netflix. Continue reading for a summary of each couple who got engaged and made it to Mexico â not to mention one couple who didnât:
Anton and Ali
Ali and Anton appear to be the seasonâs fairy tale couple, getting engaged by the second episode after forming an instant bond in the pods due to their shared experiences of moving to America in their youth. Anton affectionately called Ali âbabyâ after just their second conversation, and their in-person meeting was equally romantic. By the time they arrived in Mexico, they evoked nostalgic vibes reminiscent of Us season 1âs Cameron and Lauren.
Joe and Madison
While Ali and Anton offer the ideal love narrative, Madison and Joe brought the drama. What started as a tender connection in the podsâwhere Joe assured Madison he would support her through her health challengesâtook a turn when they met face-to-face. During the proposal, Joe struggled to express himself, leading to confusion for both Madison and viewers regarding his true feelings. The trip to Mexico only complicated matters further, as he admitted to Madison he typically prefers âthinnerâ women.
At a gathering with the other couples, Joe ended up so intoxicated he had to leave to rest in their room. Madison attempted to check on him, but her actions only prompted laughter from him before he passed out. In the subsequent episode, Madison spent considerable time in tears over his conduct.
The future of their relationship remains uncertain, but Madison deserves better.
Nick and Annie
What could be better than one love triangle? How about two! Both Annie and Nick found themselves caught up with multiple interests while in the pods, eventually deciding to get engaged to each other.
Initially, Nick connected with Kait, but their relationship faltered when he expressed love, and she was not prepared to reciprocate. Upon discovering Kaitâs lack of religious beliefs, Nick opted to shift his focus to Annie.
Meanwhile, Annie was also involved with Brenden. Ultimately, she felt that Brenden wasnât transparent enough about his emotions, while Nick was eager to share his feelings. In a last-ditch effort, Brenden poured his heart out during a date, but Annie chose to remain with Nick instead.
Despite some viewers questioning Annieâs decision to choose Nick over Brenden, she and Nick appeared genuinely content together in Mexico.
Jordan and Megan
Megan, a.k.a. âSparkle,â upped the stakes by entering a love square featuring three interested men: Blake, Jordan, and Mike. However, things quickly shifted when Blake exited the show, ghosting her without a word.
That left Jordan and Mike, and Megan found herself caught between the two. Mike represented everything she typically sought in relationships, whereas Jordan won her over with heartfelt comments about his life as a single dad to his 5-year-old son, who shares the same diabetes as her father.
Ultimately, Megan decided to pursue the unexpected path and picked Jordan. The pair appeared content during their reveal and in Mexicoâuntil the disastrous party, when Jordanâs focus shifted too much onto Joe, vexing Megan.
Edmond and Kalybriah
This unlikely duo seemed to present the classic opposites-attract scenario, with Kalybriah bringing stability to the exuberant Edmond. However, their perfect match faced challenges once in Mexico when Kalybriah pressed Edmond on how he would react if another man attempted to approach her at a club. Edmondâs response of inaction left Kalybriah frustrated by his lack of protectiveness.
During the infamous coupleâs party, Edmond realized that all the other couples had been intimate except for him and Kalybriah, who pledged to wait until marriage. Feeling insecure, he expressed a desire to take that step, but she declined, leading to tears as he lamented feeling âtoo f***ing nice.â
Patrick and Kacie
Sadly, this was a couple that never truly existed. Patrick faced an uphill battle from the start, first being ghosted by Anna, who slipped away from the pods without a farewellâmarking a second ghoster this season, despite their chemistry.
Patrick received another shot with Kacie, and it appeared they were falling in love, especially when Kacie made Patrick feel confident about his Asian heritage by explaining her siblingsâ diverse relationships.
Kacieâs constant affirmations left Patrick floating on cloud nine, but their engagement reveal swiftly turned sour when Kacie clearly showed her lack of attraction to him. Before leaving for Mexico, she expressed a desire to âgo home,â without admitting it was due to her disinterest in him. Instead, she made him think they could rekindle their connection in Denver off-camera, insisting his looks werenât an issue despite the showâs attempt to insinuate otherwise, even engaging in a heated makeout session.
Ultimately, the producers were not at fault! The show cut to Kacieâs behind-the-scenes admission that Patrick deserved someone who was actually âobsessedâ with him, which she was not. She acknowledged her awareness of how their story would appear to viewers without caring about her image.
As expected, the pair did not make it to Mexico. Someone needs to make Patrick the next Bachelor!
