Is Orbán Readying to Abandon the Sinking EU Ship?
Viktor Orbán, the iconic figure of conservative politics in Hungary, has undoubtedly made a name as the European Union’s favorite antagonist.
This fraught relationship is mutual; Orbán has famously characterized the EU as a “contemporary parody of the Soviet Union.”
Orbán is not only a staunch opponent of Brussels’ perceived overreach, particularly in matters of immigration, but he also rejects so-called ‘woke’ ideologies, standing resolutely against the LGBTQ lobby.
Moreover, he is openly critical of efforts to federate the EU, fearing that such moves would undermine Hungary’s national sovereignty.
The EU was designed to serve sovereign nations, not to govern them. Brussels does not hold sway over Hungary. We take no orders from unelected bureaucrats; our only responsibility is to our citizens. It’s time to set the record straight. pic.twitter.com/glNxi30Wvz

Reuters reported:
“Hungary should not adopt the euro currency as the European Union is ‘disintegrating’ and Hungary should avoid tying its future closer to the bloc, according to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a recent interview with EconomX.”
Despite Hungary’s heavy reliance on trade with the EU and the modernization of its economy funded largely by EU investment over the past two decades, Orbán claims the country does not meet the prerequisites for adopting the euro.
“Hungary should not tie its fate closer to the European Union than now, and adopting the euro would create the closest possible relationship,” he remarked.
