Dominion Voting Systems has officially changed hands, now under the ownership of Knowink, a St. Louis-based firm helmed by a former Republican election official.

Knowink, founded by Scott Leiendecker, is based in St. Louis, Missouri.

Interestingly, the Knowink website has recently undergone a significant makeover, currently devoid of substantial content.

In a notable rebranding effort, Knowink is set to adopt the name Liberty Vote.

Leiendecker, as noted on his LinkedIn profile, has an impressive background:

A former election director, Leiendecker established Knowink in 2011 with the invention of the Poll Pad – a tool that has revolutionized the voting journey for citizens. The Poll Pad streamlines voter check-ins and verifications, significantly shrinking wait times and enhancing cost-efficiency for state and local governments.

Under Leiendecker’s leadership, Knowink has become a robust technology enterprise, employing over 150 individuals and generating annual revenues exceeding $55 million. The firm’s technologies are utilized across one-third of U.S. states, including Washington D.C. In 2016, Knowink bolstered its position in the market by acquiring Election Administrators, a key rival in election tech.

Recognized for its growth, Knowink was declared the fastest growing private business by the St. Louis Business Journal in 2021. The company has previously made the publication’s Top 10 list of fast-growing private businesses and was highlighted in 2015 as one of St. Louis’ startups to watch.

Leiendecker’s expertise is further exemplified by his past role as the Election Director for the City of St. Louis, where he became the youngest person to hold this position. He managed an annual budget of around $2.5 million while overseeing 25 full-time staff members. His efforts led to the successful implementation of the Help America Vote Act within St. Louis City, fundamentally transforming the Election Board through a series of reforms designed to eliminate antiquated systems and bolster voter and taxpayer protections. These initiatives garnered commendations from the St. Louis City Mayor and the Board of Aldermen, significantly restoring public trust in local elections.

The newly rebranded Liberty Vote recently issued a statement outlining its future direction.

The statement emphasized Liberty Vote’s commitment to domestic talent and software development, utilizing hand-marked paper ballots to align with President Trump’s executive order, implementing strict third-party auditing processes, and creating transparent systems that simplify the voting experience.
