After a five-year drought, the Eaton Reds clinched their 11th state volleyball championship at the Denver Coliseum. The No. 3 seed Reds secured their first title since 2020 by defeating top seed Alamosa in the Class 3A final with a score of 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 27-25.

Prior to their championship victory, the Reds overcame Patriot League rival Resurrection Christian in a four-set semifinal match on Saturday. Second-year head coach Matt Meagher praised the team’s dedication and teamwork, highlighting the bond between the 10 seniors.

The championship match was intense, with the Reds narrowly winning the first set, dominating the second, and facing a tough battle in the third. Despite Alamosa’s resilience, Eaton managed to secure the final two points in the fourth set to claim the victory.

Senior Madi Smith emphasized the team’s belief in themselves and their ability to overcome challenges. Despite a rocky end to the regular season, Eaton swept through the state tournament, defeating strong opponents like No. 2 Resurrection Christian and No. 1 Alamosa.

For Eaton volleyball, this championship marked the 11th title, contributing to the school’s impressive total of 51 championships. The team’s hard work, maturity, and support from the community were key factors in their success.

Smith expressed the team’s deep desire for the championship and credited their strong bond and the community’s unwavering support for their victory.
