Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma’s exceptional form in recent matches. Pathan commended Sharma’s explosive half-century in the first ODI against South Africa on November 30, highlighting his peak performance. After a rocky start in the first ODI against Australia, Sharma has bounced back with impressive scores of 73, 121*, and 57 in subsequent matches.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Pathan praised Sharma’s fitness level, noting that the 38-year-old cricketer looks much younger on the field. Pathan emphasized Sharma’s flawless batting technique and mindset, particularly in the match against South Africa where he scored 57 runs off just 51 deliveries. Pathan lauded Sharma’s ability to adapt to different conditions and play with confidence.

The first ODI in Ranchi also saw Sharma break records by becoming the highest six-hitter in the format, surpassing Shahid Afridi’s tally of 351. Pathan also lauded stand-in captain KL Rahul for his composed knock of 60 off 56 balls in the same match. Pathan mentioned the challenges of batting at No. 6 due to rule changes but praised Rahul’s strong technique and adaptability in the middle order.

Despite the difficulties faced by batsmen in the later overs, Pathan believes Rahul’s flexibility and readiness to bat at any spot make him a valuable asset to the Indian team. Pathan highlighted Rahul’s exceptional performance in the match and commended his ability to anchor the middle order effectively.

In the end, it was Virat Kohli who stole the show with his brilliant 135-run knock, earning him the Player of the Match award as India secured a 17-run victory over South Africa. The combination of Sharma, Rahul, and Kohli’s performances showcased the depth and talent of the Indian cricket team.

Overall, Pathan’s analysis of Sharma and Rahul’s performances in the first ODI against South Africa highlights the resilience and skill of the Indian players in adapting to challenging conditions and delivering stellar performances on the field. With the team’s success in the match, Indian cricket fans can look forward to more exciting matches ahead.
