Jenny McCarthy recently made a surprising revelation during her appearance on the “Culture Apothecary” podcast. She shared that Hollywood is home to many secret conservatives who are keeping their political beliefs under wraps to avoid facing backlash in their careers. The TV personality and “Masked Singer” judge also mentioned that there are numerous individuals in Hollywood who are quietly supportive of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, spearheaded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s secretary of health. The MAHA movement is known for its anti-vaccine stance and promotes healthier lifestyle choices to combat what it believes is a chronic illness epidemic in the United States.
During the podcast, McCarthy disclosed, “I’ve been mentoring mothers online who DM me still… but also celebrities who have called me, ‘I don’t want to come out. I don’t want people to know I have a child on the spectrum. I don’t want people to know my vaccine schedule. Can you help me?’ I honor that.” She acknowledged the fear that many individuals in Hollywood have of being ostracized for their conservative beliefs, especially after witnessing the challenges she has faced due to her outspoken anti-vaccine stance.
McCarthy is not alone in her observations about hidden conservatism in Hollywood. Actor Zachary Levi, known for his role in “Shazam!”, openly declared his support for Donald Trump over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Levi revealed that he faced backlash and social exclusion within the industry for his political views. He also emphasized that there are many other Hollywood figures who are afraid to publicly express their conservative beliefs for fear of repercussions.
The secrecy surrounding conservative beliefs in Hollywood has created a culture of fear and silence among those who hold differing political views. McCarthy and Levi’s experiences shed light on the challenges faced by individuals who do not conform to the liberal majority in the entertainment industry.
