Reflecting on the Sanctity of Human Life

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence boldly asserted that every individual is endowed with the inalienable rights bestowed by a higher power, particularly the right to life. Over the past 250 years, this commitment has not only formed the bedrock of our national identity but has also positioned America as a paramount advocate for justice and human flourishing worldwide. As we observe National Sanctity of Human Life Day, we reaffirm our unwavering dedication to nurturing a culture that esteems, protects, and celebrates the intrinsic dignity and immeasurable value of every human being.

A Day of Remembrance: 53 Years Since Roe v. Wade

Today commemorates the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a decision widely criticized as a constitutional and moral failure that effectively silenced the voices of the American populace and undermined the rights of states to safeguard unborn lives. Fortunately, in June 2022, the United States Supreme Court rectified this long-standing misstep, returning the authority over abortion policies back to the states and the American people. During my first term, I took pride in appointing three Associate Justices who played a pivotal role in this significant correction, a victory for life, liberty, and the democratic ideals we uphold.

Action and Advocacy for Unborn Lives

Since my return to office as the 47th President, I have taken definitive steps to champion the rights of the unborn, seeking to restore a culture that confidently affirms the sanctity of life. I enforced the Hyde Amendment and reinstated the Mexico City Policy, effectively halting taxpayer-funded abortions both domestically and internationally. Additionally, I issued pardons for 23 pro-life activists who faced unjust prosecution from a politically motivated Department of Justice for simply living out their faith and convictions. My administration is committed to investigating the misuse of government resources against Christians and other faith-based Americans.

Legislative Milestones in Support of Families

Last summer, I proudly enacted the One Big Beautiful Bill, a landmark achievement for life and the American family. This legislation expands the child tax credit, enhances access to childcare, makes the paid leave tax credit a permanent fixture, protects Medicaid from funding large abortion providers, and creates savings accounts for newborns, securing a brighter future for our nation. My administration remains dedicated to policies that promote adoption, support foster care, and protect the rights of pregnant women and mothers. At every level of the federal government, we are actively pursuing initiatives that safeguard the most vulnerable among us while fostering the growth and prosperity of American families.

A Call to Action: Upholding Human Dignity

Today, we honor the profound truth that every individual is created in the divine image, endowed with unparalleled worth and boundless potential. We celebrate the courageous leaders, parents, students, and everyday citizens—especially those participating in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., this weekend—who advocate for the voiceless and stand up for those who cannot defend themselves. As your President, I pledge to consistently be an advocate for the silent and to tirelessly champion the dignity of every child, born and unborn.

I urge all Americans to join me in honoring the dignity inherent in every human life, including those yet to be born. Let us commit to supporting women facing unexpected pregnancies and advocating for adoption and foster care, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a loving home. Lastly, I implore every citizen of this great nation to reflect on the silence left by a generation lost to us and to raise their voices for all affected by abortion, both those seen and those unseen.
