Chicago police are on the lookout for a man who is currently on the run from a felony gun case after a woman was shot in Rogers Park on Monday night. The 26-year-old victim was in a car when a man she knows fired shots at her in the 7700 block of North Paulina around 10:40 p.m. She managed to drive away from the scene and was later found at a gas station at 101 Ridge Avenue in Evanston. Fortunately, she had sustained a gunshot wound to her thigh but was reported to be in good condition by the Chicago Police Department.

According to officers at the scene, the gunman had been harassing the woman for some time, and they are familiar with his identity. Court records reveal that prosecutors had previously sought to detain the man after charging him with illegal possession of a firearm in August. However, Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman denied the detention petition and allowed him to return home. Subsequently, the man failed to appear in court in November, leading to an active warrant for his arrest.

This incident marks the 11th shooting in Rogers Park this year, keeping 2025 on par with last year’s shooting statistics. By this time in 2023, there were 12 individuals shot, and in 2022, the count stood at 10. The ongoing violence in the area is a cause for concern and highlights the need for continued efforts to address and prevent gun-related crimes.
