The 2026 American Express recently wrapped up at the La Quinta Country Club in the USA, with Scottie Scheffler emerging as the champion after four rounds of play. Scheffler claimed his 20th PGA Tour title with a total score of 27 under par, solidifying his position as the World No. 1 golfer.

The event featured a star-studded field with popular Tour pros like Jason Day, Ludvig Aberg, and Wyndham Clark vying for the AmEx title. While many players excelled and made it to the top 10, some golfers fell short of expectations at the 2026 American Express.

Benjamin Griffin had a strong start in the tournament, scoring a remarkable 9 under par 63 in the opening round with three eagles. Despite securing his spot for the weekend with a round 2 score of 4 under par 68, Griffin struggled in the final rounds and finished tied for 24th place.

Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre also had a promising start, carding a 63 in the first round with ten birdies and two eagles. However, a tough second round followed by consistent performance in the subsequent rounds landed him tied for 38th place with a total score of 16 under par.

Sam Burns, another contender with high odds of winning, showcased a strong start with a bogey-free opening round. However, a few setbacks in the following rounds saw him finishing tied for 27th place with a total score of 17 under par.

Sepp Straka, despite having favorable odds, missed the cut at the 2026 American Express after a rocky start in the first two rounds. The Austrian golfer struggled with double bogeys and ultimately fell short of making it to the weekend.

Harry Hall, with similar odds to Straka, finished in 24th place alongside Griffin. Hall had a rough start but managed to secure his spot for the weekend with consistent performances in the last two rounds, finishing with a 72-hole total of 18 under par.

Overall, the 2026 American Express was a thrilling event with Scottie Scheffler emerging as the deserving champion. While some players exceeded expectations, others faced challenges and fell short of their potential. The competition showcased the talent and resilience of the PGA Tour pros, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
