Cartel violence in Mexico threatens to spill over into California following the death of a notorious drug kingpin. The city of Tijuana, located just across the border from San Diego, was plunged into chaos as suspected narco-terrorists set vehicles on fire at the border wall, erected roadblocks, and targeted local businesses.

Disturbing footage captured a major highway near the United States completely shut down as authorities inspected a burning car. The scenes of violence spread across Mexico after Jalisco cartel boss Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes was killed during a special forces raid in Tapalpa.

Vengeful gang members unleashed havoc in various cities, including the popular tourist resort of Puerto Vallarta. Violence also reached parts of Baja California and as close to the US as Tijuana. Journalist Jorge Ventura shared harrowing images of burnt-out vehicles near the border wall, showcasing the extent of the unrest.

Mexican authorities swiftly responded to the escalating violence, arresting 25 suspected gang members involved in burning cars, setting up blockades, and attacking businesses. Tijuana, a crucial border crossing between California and Mexico, sees a significant flow of traffic daily, with millions passing through annually.

Despite the turmoil, US Customs and Border Protection confirmed that all Southwest entrances remain open and operational, with no planned closures. The violence followed the dramatic arrest and subsequent death of Oseguera Cervantes in a daring raid orchestrated by Mexican intelligence agents.

The agents tracked down the cartel boss to a secluded compound in Tapalpa, where he and his militia were hiding out. A gunfight ensued between the special forces and the heavily armed cartel members, resulting in the death of Oseguera and several others. The aftermath of his death has sparked fears of further unrest and violence in the region.

The events in Tijuana serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against organized crime in Mexico and the potential implications for neighboring regions like California. The authorities on both sides of the border remain vigilant as they work to maintain peace and security amidst the escalating cartel warfare.
