Annie Farmer, a survivor of abuse by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in the 1990s, attended the State of the Union address to send a clear message to President Donald Trump: “We’re not going away.” Farmer, along with her sister Maria, has been vocal about the lack of transparency surrounding the Epstein case and continues to demand accountability.
Maria, who was hired by Epstein to help purchase art, had urged the FBI to investigate him for child pornography in 1996, but no action was taken. Both sisters were victims of sexual assault by Epstein and Maxwell, leading Maria to file a lawsuit in May against the justice department, US Attorney’s Offices, and the FBI for negligence and emotional distress.
Annie publicly testified at Maxwell’s trial in 2021, recounting her own experience of abuse at Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico. She emphasized the importance of releasing all remaining files related to Epstein to achieve true accountability and understanding of what went wrong.
Lauren Hersh, co-founder of World Without Exploitation, echoed Annie’s sentiments, calling for the release of the remaining Epstein Files. She highlighted the need for continued pressure to ensure accountability for the victims.
In recent developments, high-profile figures like disgraced ex-Prince Andrew and former British Ambassador to the US Lord Peter Mandelson have been arrested in connection to Epstein overseas. However, in the US, the fallout has mainly resulted in resignations and public apologies. Former Harvard president Larry Summers resigned as a professor over his ties to Epstein, and billionaire Bill Gates apologized for his association with the financier.
Amidst these developments, Annie Farmer emphasized that the story of Epstein’s crimes is far from over. She urged for a critical examination of the accountability these individuals are receiving and stressed the importance of continuing to push for justice.
The call for transparency and accountability in the Epstein case remains strong, with survivors like Annie and Maria Farmer leading the charge to ensure that the truth is uncovered and justice is served.
