Roku is set to introduce a new interactive trivia game experience called “Roklue,” designed to engage users during Oscar season and beyond. The initial edition, “Roklue: Awards Season,” will debut on March 7, featuring clues inspired by iconic moments from Hollywood’s biggest award shows and acclaimed films.
According to Roku, Roklue is a game that aims to immerse users in current cultural trends and help them discover new entertainment in a fun and engaging way. Future versions of Roklue planned for release throughout the year will be themed around music festivals, the Emmys, and various holidays.
The primary objective of Roklue is to evolve with different editions tied to significant cultural events, providing users with a fresh approach to exploring content available on the Roku platform. This new offering follows the success of “Live From Roku City,” which transformed Roku’s screensaver into a stage for special performances like Demi Lovato’s and the digital release of “Wicked: For Good.”
Lisa Holme, Roku’s head of content, explained that the idea for Roklue stemmed from the popularity of the existing daily trivia feature on Roku, which has now been enhanced with more interactive and video elements. Users can directly access the movies referenced in the game, making it easier for them to discover new titles to watch. The goal is to make the content discovery process more enjoyable and engaging for users.
Roklue will be easily accessible from the Roku home screen, requiring no downloads or setup to start playing. The “Roklue: Awards Season” edition is produced by B17 Entertainment, a division of Sony Pictures Television, with Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner serving as executive producers and Chris Lesinski as the showrunner.
Overall, Roklue represents Roku’s continued efforts to provide innovative and interactive experiences for its users, offering a unique way to engage with content and stay connected to the latest cultural trends. Stay tuned for more exciting editions of Roklue throughout the year, each designed to enhance the streaming experience for Roku users.
