During his tenure with the Trump administration, Kushner operated in the Middle East and was reportedly receiving funds from governments in the region.
Raskin addressed Kushner directly:
You are currently acting as the “Special Envoy for Peace” in U.S. negotiations to address conflicts in the Middle East. Concurrently, you are seeking billions of dollars from Gulf monarchies for your private business pursuits and managing significant investments from these governments through your firm, A Fin Management LLC (Affinity).
From the perspective of the American public, your dual roles—one in a public capacity for the government and the other for private financial gain—pose a severe and unresolvable conflict of interest. Your clients, including Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, have distinctive strategic, economic, and political goals that are likely to conflict significantly with those of the American people.
Raskin has declared his intention to probe into Kushner’s conduct for various potential breaches of federal law.
