Supermodel and television host Heidi Klum was among the celebrities paying tribute to the art world at the 2026 MET Gala.
On Monday night, Klum appeared on the iconic steps in a custom ensemble by designer Mike Marino. Her look was inspired by classical masterpieces like Giuseppe Sammartino’s “Veiled Christ” and Raffaele Monti’s “Veiled Vestal.”
The outfit, crafted from materials such as latex and spandex, aimed to transform Klum into a “living sculpture,” creating the illusion of carved stone.
Other stars gracing fashion’s biggest night included Connor Storie, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, and Emma Chamberlain.
This year’s theme, “Fashion is Art,” aligns with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Art exhibition.
Beyoncé is co-chairing the event alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.
Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz head the gala host committee, which features Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult.
The event and exhibition are primarily sponsored by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, with additional backing from Saint Laurent and Condé Nast.
Curated by Andrew Bolton, the Costume Art exhibition explores “the centrality of the dressed body,” juxtaposing pieces from the museum’s extensive collection with both historical and contemporary fashions from the Institute. The exhibition will be open from May 10 to January 10, 2027.
