Late Monday night, a 39-year-old man was fatally stabbed near Times Square, according to police reports.
The attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Burger & Lobster â Bryant Park on West 43rd Street, close to Seventh Avenue. The victim suffered stab wounds to his torso and back and was slashed in the face, authorities stated. This location is just steps away from the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where Broadwayâs â& Julietâ is currently showing.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police confirmed.
The NYPD is actively searching for âmultipleâ individuals who fled the scene following the fatal stabbing.
The motive behind the violent attack is currently unknown.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed as authorities are awaiting family notification. However, law enforcement sources have indicated his last known residence was in Worcester, Massachusetts.
This incident of deadly violence occurred within the jurisdiction of the NYPDâs Midtown South Precinct, where two other homicides have been reported this year up to Sunday, according to department data.
There were no homicides reported during the same timeframe in 2025.
Despite these incidents, overall felony crime has decreased by more than 16 percent this year within the precinct’s boundaries, which encompass areas such as Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station, and Madison Square Garden.
