Shania Twain disclosed that she turned down an invitation to Taylor Swift‘s wedding because of her association with Swift’s former partner, Harry Styles.
In an interview with the Canadian entertainment outlet ETalk published on Tuesday, July 14, Twain, aged 60, expressed, “I would have done anything to be at Taylor’s wedding. It would have been really lovely for me to be there — but I was with Harry.”
Twain explained her commitment to opening Styles’ 12-show residency at London’s Wembley Stadium coincided with Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce on July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
“Taylor Swift invited me to her wedding, but I couldn’t attend because I was already committed to Harry’s shows,” remarked the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” singer. “If Harry ever gets married and he wants me at his wedding, he’s going to have to ask me more in advance.”
The ETalk host noted the past relationship between Swift, 36, and Styles, 32, from 2012 to 2013, adding an element of awkwardness to Twain’s scheduling conflict. Twain remarked, “It’s just kind of funny that it happened that way.”
Twain wasn’t the only absent celebrity at Swift’s wedding to the Kansas City Chiefs player. Other notable absentees included Blake Lively, Margaret Qualley, and Lorde. The event attracted around 1,000 close family members and friends.
The wedding, which took place during the summer of 2023, was attended by numerous celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba, Gigi Hadid, Hugh Grant, Karlie Kloss, Paul Rudd, Seth Meyers, Kelsea Ballerini, and Maren Morris. On the groom’s side, attendees included Brittany and Patrick Mahomes, George Kittle, Kareem Hunt, and other prominent NFL players.
A source shared with Us Weekly that the venue was transformed into an enchanted garden setting. The decor featured a color palette of soft blush and light peach, with drapery, floral arrangements, lush greenery, large trees, and candlelight throughout the space.
The event’s attention to detail was noted with cocktail napkins, signs, and custom handkerchiefs all featuring the monogram “T&T.”
