A woman from Chicago has been accused of planning armed robberies targeting two drug dealers. She allegedly provided information to her two accomplices, including her 17-year-old nephew, about the dealers’ location and then pretended to be a victim during the crime.
Nakeia Hamilton, aged 28, was taken into custody by Judge John Hock following allegations by prosecutors that she masterminded the robbery on August 6 in the 5000 block of West Jackson Boulevard. She is said to have enlisted two accomplices, one being her teenage nephew, to execute the plan.
Prosecutors and a Chicago Police Department (CPD) report claim that Hamilton was aware the victims would possess around $10,000 worth of narcotics. She allegedly contacted her nephew via FaceTime, described one of the victims’ vehicles, and instructed him to rob them upon arrival. Hamilton reportedly knew that firearms would be used and intended to act as an additional victim during the robbery, according to prosecutors.
Upon the victims’ arrival, the 17-year-old and an unidentified accomplice allegedly confronted them. Prosecutors claim they struck a 30-year-old man on the head with a firearm, stealing a wallet with approximately $400 and an iPhone. His 36-year-old companion was reportedly robbed of about $23. No narcotics were mentioned as being taken in the charging documents.
The 17-year-old was apprehended by police shortly after the incident. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that Hamilton was the actual orchestrator of the robbery, not a victim, as per the CPD report.
Hamilton faces charges including two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated robbery, and two counts of robbery. Her arrest report notes that she informed officers about her pregnancy.
The juvenile is charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. Due to state law, CPD cannot release further details about him, including his connection to Hamilton.
