The atmosphere was still electric for a group of patriotic travelers departing from Washington D.C. following President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
On a Southwest flight from Ronald Reagan International Airport to Nashville, Tennessee, one passenger decided to serenade the cabin with a rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”
Matt Oakley, a Nashville resident, captured the moment on TikTok, showing a fellow passenger standing up and singing passionately while others joined in, including a young boy seated next to Oakley.
Oakley revealed that the man leading the impromptu performance was a former veteran, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and a flannel shirt.
“It was a heartwarming experience to see strangers come together in celebration of our country,” Oakley expressed.
Despite the current climate of division, Oakley noted that the shared patriotic moment on the plane felt unifying and uplifting.
Southwest Airlines was contacted for comment on the heartwarming incident.
