Today, the European Central Bank announced a 25-basis-point interest rate cut, in line with expectations. This marks the fifth reduction since the central bank started easing monetary policy in June of last year.
The interest rate cut brings the ECB’s deposit facility rate to 2.75%. Prior to the announcement, markets had already priced in a high probability of a 25-basis-point cut.
