Border Czar Tom Homan Clarifies That Having an Anchor Baby Is No Shield Against Deportation

In a recent appearance on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” Border Czar Tom Homan addressed the contentious issue of illegal immigration and the misconception surrounding anchor babies. Homan highlighted the case of a two-year-old American citizen who was sent to Honduras with her deported mother, emphasizing that the decision to take the child was a personal choice rather than a governmental obligation.

“The reality is that these children aren’t the ones being deported,” Homan articulated. “The mother opted to bring her child along when she was removed from the country. She could have left the child with relatives, but she chose otherwise.” His comments serve as a stark reminder that the consequences of illegal immigration extend beyond the individual to familial responsibilities. Homan added, “When you enter this country illegally and decide to have a U.S. citizen child, that’s a choice you make. The responsibility lies with the individual, not the administration.”

He further elaborated, stating, “Having a U.S. citizen child doesn’t provide immunity from our laws. It’s not a ‘get out of jail free’ card.” This statement underscores a critical point in the ongoing debate about immigration policies and the rights of undocumented individuals in the United States.

Tom Homan shares the TRUTH about the “2 year old US citizen” the left is trying to use for emotional support against deportations.

When host Margaret Brennan inquired about the necessity for “special care” in deportation cases involving young, American-born children, Homan reiterated that the existence of a U.S. citizen child does not exempt anyone from the laws of the land. “American families face separation from law enforcement regularly. If a parent is incarcerated, their child typically cannot accompany them. The same principle applies here. If an undocumented individual decides to have a child in this country, they bear the consequences of that choice.”

In a notable turn of events, the father of one of the children has filed a petition seeking the child’s release, with a hearing set for May 16 in Louisiana.

“The mother made a conscious decision when she signed the paperwork indicating, ‘I want my two-year-old to go with me,’” Homan concluded. “This is fundamentally a parental decision, not one imposed by the government.”
