Sony Pictures Television has made a major acquisition ahead of its LA Screenings event by securing the global distribution rights for the upcoming series “The Miniature Wife.” The show, starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, is a relationship comedy that delves into the power dynamics between spouses when a technological mishap causes a marital crisis.
Based on Manuel Gonzalez’s short story of the same name, “The Miniature Wife” is produced by Media Res, the team behind hits like “The Morning Show” and “Pachinko.” The one-hour comedy series follows a man who accidentally shrinks his wife, leading to a battle for dominance within their marriage.
Mike Wald, co-president of Distribution & Networks at SPT, expressed his excitement about bringing the series to audiences worldwide, praising the talent of the cast and the unique humor of the show. In addition to Banks and Macfadyen, the series features a talented ensemble including Zoe Lister-Jones, Sofia Rosinsky, O-T Fagbenle, and Sian Clifford as series regulars.
