Martha Stewart and filmmaker R.J. Cutler recently sat down for an FYC event at the Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills to promote the Netflix documentary “Martha.” Stewart made it clear that she didn’t want a soft, fluffy documentary like Ralph Lauren’s “Very Ralph,” which she felt he had too much control over. Cutler, on the other hand, had final say on “Martha,” which premiered on October 30 on Netflix.

Initially, Stewart had some criticisms of Cutler and the documentary, but those tensions seemed to have dissipated as they sat together for a discussion followed by a reception with Emmy Awards voters. Stewart looked stunning in a lemon-yellow pantsuit and gold lame wedge heels.

The documentary “Martha” has been praised for highlighting Stewart’s legacy as a pioneering female entrepreneur and CEO. Despite being a strong advocate for women in business, Stewart surprised many by choosing a man, Cutler, to tell her story. She had interviewed several filmmakers before deciding on Cutler, stating that she wanted a change from working with women, as her company was predominantly female.

Stewart addressed her earlier criticisms of the film, admitting that there were aspects of her life that could have been showcased more. However, she ultimately trusted Cutler’s expertise as the filmmaker and acknowledged that her family had positive feedback on the documentary.

In addition to the documentary, Stewart mentioned her experiments with an A.I. program for homeowners and her upcoming autobiography with Random House. She revealed that the autobiography, though not as lengthy as Barbara’s, is chronological and filled with interesting insights from her archives.

As Stewart continues to share her story through various mediums, fans can expect more exciting projects in the future. Stay tuned for updates on her latest ventures.
