NBC’s new comedy pilot, set at a Native American community center in Oakland, has made its first casting announcements. According to Variety, Jana Schmieding, Bobby Wilson, Wes Studi, and Rachel Dratch have all been cast in the untitled single-cam comedy. Wilson, who is also a writer and executive producer on the show, will be joined by this talented ensemble.

The pilot, which was picked up in March, is described as an ensemble comedy set at a Native community center in Oakland, California. The show will follow the employees as they work hard to keep the center running while helping those in need.

The creative team behind the pilot includes writers Sierra Teller Ornelas, Jackie Keliiaa, and Wilson, who are also serving as executive producers. Teller Ornelas will act as showrunner, with Morgan Sackett also on board as an executive producer. The show is being produced by Universal Television, where Teller Ornelas and Sackett have overall deals.

Schmieding will star as Josie Two-Shoes, the ambitious director of the community center. This role marks a reunion for Schmieding with the show’s creative team, as she previously led the Peacock comedy “Rutherford Falls.” Wilson, on the other hand, will play Bobby Renville, a troublemaker who grew up at the center. Studi will portray Frank Henry Jr., a lovable elder who runs support programs at the center, while Dratch will take on the role of Cheryl, the quirky support staff.

The pilot, along with NBC’s other comedy projects like “Stumble” and “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” shows the network’s commitment to diverse and engaging storytelling. With a talented cast and creative team behind it, this new comedy pilot set in Oakland’s Native American community center is sure to be a hit.
