A federal contractor embroiled in the ongoing controversy has decisively dismissed allegations suggesting Tucker Carlson is a puppet of Qatar.

For several days now, Carlson has been unabashedly vocal in his critiques of former President Trump’s position regarding the Israel-Iran conflict.

The Jerusalem Post disclosed in May that Qatar, known for its support of terrorist organizations like Hamas and its close ties to the Iranian regime, significantly increased its outreach to right-wing media outlets by over 50% after Trump’s decisive victory in the 2024 elections.

The report referenced findings from The Washington Examiner, which scrutinized U.S. Justice Department records, highlighting Qatar’s orchestration of a notable interview between Carlson and Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to the report, Qatari agents compensated a U.S. firm a staggering $180,000 per month to facilitate this interview.

Filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) revealed the involvement of Lumen8 Advisors LLC, a relatively obscure legal consulting firm, in arranging the meeting between Carlson and the Qatari Prime Minister.

Anna Jacobs, a non-resident fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute, noted in a statement to The Washington Examiner: “Qatar aims to solidify its ties with Trump for various reasons, particularly to shield itself from Republican criticism regarding its connections with Hamas and Iran.”

Carlson was not the only conservative figure targeted by Qatar in its media influence endeavors; Doha also engaged with news outlets such as Fox News, the New York Post, Just the News, and The Daily Mail, often following these interactions with notably favorable coverage.

Critics express concern that Qatar is attempting to rehabilitate its image in the U.S., especially given its questionable affiliations with the Iranian regime and terrorist entities like Hamas.

Conservative investigative journalist Laura Loomer did not hold back on her criticism, releasing screenshots of the FARA filings and accusing Carlson of engaging in “paid propaganda.” Loomer lambasted Carlson on X, stating:

“Here’s the screenshot from the FARA documents filled out this year that prove Qatar paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for an interview between @TuckerCarlson and the Prime Minister of Qatar (the same Qatar which funds HAMAS) regarding the ‘war with Iran.’”

“This was a paid propaganda piece in which over $200,000 was disbursed by the Embassy of the State of Qatar for Tucker to interview a Qatari official while fully aware that HAMAS operates as an Iranian proxy funded by Qatar.”

“Qatar finances Islamic terrorism worldwide, and they believe they can simply pay off media personalities to overlook their actions. The Qataris are global financiers of Islamic terrorism, and their funds have been implicated in the deaths of American citizens.”

“These are not good people.”

“Tucker Carlson wants you to believe his views on Iran are independent and original, but he’s merely participating in interviews financed by the Qataris, who are also bankrolling lavish lifestyles for Hamas leaders in DOHA.”

“Tucker should be forthright about being a mouthpiece for genocidal Muslims.”

“His media company was funded by a MUSLIM investor with Pakistani and Iranian roots who spends considerable time in Qatar. Many in pro-Trump circles find this deeply unsettling.”

“Tucker is under the influence of Muslims. It’s time for people to wake up and discard the notion that this is merely a conspiracy theory.”

“Qatar and Iran are financially backing conservative podcasters to disseminate pro-Islamist, anti-American, and anti-Israel narratives to undermine President Trump.”

In response, conservative heavyweight Mark Levin applauded Loomer’s investigation, succinctly commenting, “Well done.”

Amidst escalating scrutiny, Lumen8 Advisors LLC issued a statement in a bid to defend its reputation.

Lumen8 Advisors registers documents under FARA in compliance with DOJ requirements and our legal obligations. We find it rather ironic that those who adhere to the law are called into question.

Tucker Carlson, TCN, and its associated entities have never received compensation from Lumen8 Advisors, its affiliates, or its clients. Lumen8 Advisors proudly collaborates with the government of Qatar, providing interview preparation and strategic advice related to Tucker Carlson’s interview with the Qatari Prime Minister.

After consulting with FARA legal experts, Lumen8 Advisors believed it prudent to formally register the meeting as per standard industry practice. For those knowledgeable in these matters, to misconstrue this and suggest Tucker or TCN received any form of payment for the interview is simply despicable.

Clearly, “no good deed goes unpunished.”
