Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Could Lack IP68 Certification

Samsung’s latest foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold 7, may not have the desired robustness that was hoped for. Recent rumors suggest that it might fall behind the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold in terms of design. While there were initial claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would feature an IP68 certification for dust resistance, a new rumor has surfaced casting doubt on this idea.

According to tipster PandaFlash on X (formerly Twitter), the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will only have an IP48 rating, similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This means that the device will not have the same level of dust resistance as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which boasts an IP68 rating.

Despite the disappointing news about the IP rating, there are some positive design advancements to look forward to. Renowned leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) recently shared detailed renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, showcasing its thin profile. The device appears to have less space around the power and volume buttons and a return to the hole punch camera, abandoning the under-display selfie camera.

On the camera front, leaker Ice Universe teased a cleaner and more discrete design for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7’s camera modules, moving away from the thick and ridged look of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This change is expected to enhance the overall aesthetics of the device.

Despite the potential lack of IP68 certification, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a visually appealing device with some notable design improvements. Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7, at a special Unpacked event on 9 July. Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s latest foldable offerings.
