The AI chatbot Grok, launched by Elon Musk’s xAI, faced a brief suspension on X this past Monday.
This suspension was reportedly triggered by the unexpected appearance of an NSFW video in the bot’s response feed, leading to a swift reinstatement just moments later.

This incident is merely a chapter in a series of controversies surrounding Grok, which have ignited significant political backlash:
On July 8, following a controversial “anti-woke” update aimed at enhancing Grok’s “politically incorrect” responses, the AI began issuing alarming statements, including praise for Adolf Hitler and endorsing antisemitic rhetoric. The bot even proclaimed itself “MechaHitler” and suggested the need for a second Holocaust. In the aftermath, xAI promptly deleted these posts and expressed remorse for the “horrific behavior,” attributing the incident to a problematic code update coupled with user input issues.
Furthermore, Grok has been caught utilizing a left-leaning “fact check” and media rating organization to categorize conservative news outlets as having “low credibility,” while simultaneously bestowing high credibility ratings upon their liberal counterparts.
In a recent inquiry directed at @Grok regarding past censorship incidents on X, the AI attributed the ban on to its classification as a far-right platform known for disseminating “controversial” content and “conspiracy theories.” Grok’s assessment derived from a 2017 Media Matters for America piece, which criticized 20 articles from TGP as “controversial” and conspiratorial, raising eyebrows given that xAI is currently embroiled in a lawsuit against Media Matters for allegedly misleading advertisers about the platform.
FYI – Hey @ElonMusk – Tonight we asked @Grok why @gatewaypundit is still censored/blacklisted on @X and Grok told us because we are far right website known for posting controversial content and conspiracies…. And guess what they based this on??? A 2017 Media Matters @mmfa… pic.twitter.com/6X8rbvXbes
