Both “Boston Blue” and “Sheriff Country” Renewed for Season 2
Exciting news for fans of CBS shows “Boston Blue” and “Sheriff Country” as both have been renewed for a second season, as reported by Variety. These two series, which are spinoffs of popular CBS shows “Blue Bloods” and “Fire Country,” have been a hit with audiences since their premiere on October 17 as part of the CBS fall lineup. Both shows air on Friday nights and are produced by CBS Studios.
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach expressed her excitement about the early renewals, attributing the success of the shows to their character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives, and exceptional talent both in front of and behind the camera.
According to Nielsen Live+7 multiplatform data, “Sheriff Country” is averaging 7.6 million viewers per episode, while “Boston Blue” is averaging 8 million viewers. Both shows have helped CBS dominate Friday nights in total viewership since their debut.
“Sheriff Country” follows Sheriff Mickey Fox, played by Morena Baccarin, as she investigates criminal activity in the small town of Edgewater, California while navigating complex family dynamics. The series was created by Max Thierot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, who also created “Fire Country,” and features a talented ensemble cast.
“Boston Blue” stars Donnie Wahlberg as former NYPD Detective Danny Reagan, who joins the Boston Police Department. He is joined by Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Maggie Lawson, and other talented actors. The series, developed by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, has been a hit with viewers for its engaging storyline and strong performances.
