K-pop fans around the world are in for a treat as Netflix has just announced that they will be live-streaming the highly-anticipated comeback of the iconic boy band BTS. After a hiatus of nearly four years, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are reuniting on stage in Seoul to perform songs from their upcoming album ARIRANG, as well as their classic hits.
But that’s not all – one week after the live show, Netflix will exclusively debut the documentary BTS: THE RETURN, which chronicles the making of ARIRANG.
The comeback special, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE, will stream exclusively on Netflix on March 20. The concert will take place at 4 a.m. PST/7 a.m. EST, as the band will be performing in the historic Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. Following the live concert, BTS will embark on their ARIRANG World Tour, consisting of 82 shows in 34 countries.
The reason behind BTS’s hiatus was South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements for young men. The band members took time off to fulfill their duty, with some members releasing solo work while others served. After completing their service, the band is now back together and ready to take the world by storm once again.
Directed by Bao Nguyen, BTS: THE RETURN is a feature-length documentary that explores the band’s return from a four-year hiatus and the production of their fifth album, ARIRANG. The film offers exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the group reuniting and recording their new album in a Los Angeles studio. It delves into their personal growth and how they navigate working together again after such a long time apart.
BTS has captivated audiences worldwide since their debut in 2013, building a dedicated fan base known as BTS ARMY. BTS: THE RETURN showcases the band’s journey post-military service, as they rediscover themselves as pop icons through their artistic collaboration.
