California Farming Tycoon Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Wife During Divorce Battle

A wealthy California farming tycoon, Michael Abatti, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his wife, Kerri Ann Abatti, through a window at their $1.6 million ranch home in Pinetop, Arizona. The incident occurred on November 20, following a heated divorce battle between the couple.

Abatti, 63, was taken into custody at his residence in El Centro, California on December 23 after investigators from the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office uncovered evidence linking him to the shooting. The authorities found a shattered window at the couple’s luxury ranch, which they believe was the point of entry for the fatal gunshot.

The Abattis, who had been married for 31 years, were in the midst of a bitter divorce fight over Michael’s considerable wealth. Kerri Ann had accused her husband of concealing assets and making financial decisions without her involvement or consultation with legal counsel.

According to divorce filings reviewed by the Los Angeles Times, Kerri Ann had been struggling to make ends meet with just a few thousand dollars in monthly spousal support. She had recently moved back to her family’s hometown in California after the split, where she had deep roots dating back over a century.

Kerri Ann, a former Miss Navajo County, was a respected member of her community, having excelled in academics and extracurricular activities during her high school years. She was known for her musical talents and had received a scholarship to the University of Arizona to pursue a degree in music education and studio performance.

Following the tragic incident, Michael Abatti was apprehended in Imperial County, CA, where he owns a substantial agriculture operation. He is currently awaiting extradition to Arizona to face charges related to his wife’s death.
