A new chapter featuring star India Women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been included in a Class 5 textbook published by Orient BlackSwan. The textbook covers various subjects such as Science, Social Studies, and General Knowledge, showcasing the achievements of the talented batter.

Smriti Mandhana is widely regarded as one of India’s greatest women cricketers. She played a pivotal role in India Women’s historic victory at the ODI World Cup last year, emerging as the team’s leading run-scorer with 434 runs in nine innings at an impressive average of 54.25 and a strike rate of 99.09.

The Class 5 chapter dedicated to Mandhana narrates the story of a young boy who learns about the legacy of the Indian Women’s opener from his parents. The chapter delves into Mandhana’s accomplishments as an international cricketer, her stint in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), and her inspiring journey to stardom.

Furthermore, the chapter also mentions other cricketing legends such as Indian Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur, former India skipper Rahul Dravid, and ex-Sri Lankan keeper-batter Kumar Sangakkara, highlighting their contributions to the sport.

In her most recent appearance during India Women’s tour of Australia, Mandhana showcased her batting prowess in the T20I series, where she emerged as the top run-scorer with 129 runs in three innings at an average of 64.50 and a strike rate of 134.37. Her impressive knock of 82 off 55 balls in the third T20I exemplified her skill and talent.

Although India Women faced defeat in the ODI series, Mandhana contributed with 89 runs, including a solid 58 in the first ODI in Brisbane. With an illustrious career spanning across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, Mandhana has amassed significant runs, showcasing her consistency and talent on the field.
