Angel Reese is set to make her first home appearance for the Atlanta Dream on Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces at State Farm Arena. On Friday, the Dream’s X account announced that the arena had reached full capacity ahead of the game.
The team shared a brief seven-second video showing fans filling the State Farm Arena, waving their smartphones as flashlights. The video thanked the fans for selling out the arena.
“ATL, WE’RE SO BACK 🔥 Our State Farm home opener is officially SOLD OUT. Dream fans, we’ll see you this Sunday & make sure to grab tickets for the next time your Atlanta Dream play at State Farm Arena on 6/20 and 6/22,” Dream wrote in the post’s caption.
Fans took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts on the sold-out game.
“I feel sorry for JC, Chennedy is going to do nasty things to her,” one fan said.
“The possibility of us losing is already upsetting me, but let’s stay positive,” another fan said.
“A’ja and Chennedy don’t run from me,” another fan commented.
Here are more reactions:
“17k ppl about to watch Aces put belt to that ssa,” one fan commented.
“The way ppl just love to hate anything Angel associated is crazy. Saying she is playing in a small arena so it isn’t hard to sell, is some hating ass shit. But also, folks don’t read, it says State Farm Arena NOT Gateway,” another fan said.
“But y’all said Mrs. Reese didn’t have motion,” another fan commented.
This Saturday marks the first time Angel Reese will face her former teammate, Chennedy Carter, who now plays for the Aces after previously being on the same team in the WNBA.
Angel Reese Creates History in Her Atlanta Dream Debut
Angel Reese made history in her debut for the Atlanta Dream, leading her team to a narrow 91-90 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday. The two-time All-Star recorded 11 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists, becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to achieve 50 career double-doubles.
In a postgame interview, Reese admitted that her performance wasn’t at its best.
“My experience has been great because we got a win,” she said. “It was rough for me tonight, but this is what you call a team. Being able to have players that have your back and always will pick you up, even when you’re not having the best game. Always in your ear, putting a lot of confidence into you.”
Reese maintained her strong performance in the Dream’s 77-72 victory over the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, contributing 12 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists.
