Nail salon robberies have become a concerning trend in Chicago, with two recent incidents occurring in the Loop and South Loop neighborhoods. In both cases, individuals who had received nail services turned violent when asked for payment, using pepper spray on salon staff before stealing cash, purses, and phones.

The first robbery took place on May 28th in the 300 block of South Dearborn Street, followed by a second incident on June 1st in the 1600 block of South Michigan Avenue. The suspects, described as a Black woman in her 20s and a Black man in his 30s to 35s with a physical impairment in his right hand, remain at large. Area Three detectives are leading the investigation and can be reached at 312-744-8263 regarding crime pattern #25-3-025.

These brazen crimes highlight the need for increased vigilance and security measures in nail salons across the city. The safety of both employees and customers is paramount, and it is crucial for businesses to take steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As Chicago continues to grapple with a rise in criminal activity, it is essential for the community to come together to support local businesses and ensure the safety of all residents. By staying informed and remaining vigilant, we can work towards creating a safer and more secure city for everyone.
