CBS has made the decision not to move forward with spinoffs of two popular shows, “The Equalizer” and “The Neighborhood.” This news has been confirmed by Variety.

The planned spinoff of “The Equalizer” was set to star Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz, who both made appearances on a recent episode of the original series. Welliver’s character, Hudson Reed, was described as a former top CIA operative with a dark secret who has a connection to Robyn McCall, played by Queen Latifah. Feliz portrayed Samantha Reed, Hudson’s daughter who has been trained by her father to be a skilled weapons expert, martial artist, and chameleon with a mysterious past.

On the other hand, the spinoff of “The Neighborhood” would have followed Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney’s characters, Marty and Malcolm Butler, as they move to Venice Beach.

While “The Neighborhood” has already been renewed for an eighth and final season, “The Equalizer” remains in contention for a potential sixth season pickup.

In addition to these spinoff cancellations, CBS has also decided not to move forward with the comedy pilot “Zarna” from comedian Zarna Garg and has canceled the comedy series “Poppa’s House” after one season.

Despite these setbacks, CBS has already made several pickups for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. The network has ordered a new entry in the “FBI” franchise starring Tom Ellis, along with the drama pilot “Einstein” starring Matthew Gray Gubler and the comedy pilot “DMV” being picked up to series. Additionally, CBS has ordered the spinoff “Sheriff Country” from “Fire Country” and the “Blue Bloods” spinoff “Boston Blue.”

These decisions reflect CBS’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality content to its viewers and expanding its lineup with new and exciting shows.
