During the Dealbook Summit, Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk shared her perspective on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the demographic that supported him.

Reflecting on her time living in Manhattan, Kirk expressed her love for the city and addressed the shift in political ideology represented by Mayor Mamdani. She emphasized the contrast between Mamdani’s democratic socialist views and those of her late husband, right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

When asked about the high number of women who voted for Mamdani, Kirk highlighted the tendency in urban areas like Manhattan for individuals to rely on government support for various aspects of life.

She cautioned against women viewing the government as a sole solution, urging them to prioritize personal relationships and self-sufficiency over governmental support. Kirk found it intriguing that a significant percentage of Mamdani’s supporters were female.

Following Kirk’s comments, online commentators, including prominent career women like Elaine Welteroth and Katie Couric, criticized her perspective. Some humorously pointed out the absurdity of relying on the government for personal needs.

One commenter highlighted the irony of Kirk’s stance, given her position as a successful female CEO succeeding her husband at Turning Point USA.
